A Darkness Strange and Lovely Book Club

Hello! I am excited to participate in Susan Dennard's and Epic Read's Something Strange and Deadly Book Club! This is my page where I will answer the discussion questions and anything else that we need to do for the book club. If you would like to participate in the book club, head on over to Susan Dennard's page or Epic Reads

Discussion Week #1:
Q: Eleanor finds herself with next to nothing at the start of A Darkness Strange and Lovely. Do you think she is justified in leaving Philadelphia and leaving behind her mother? On the flip side, can you put yourself in Mrs. Fitt’s shoes and understand why she might be so cruel toward Eleanor?

A: Yes, I think she was justified for leaving her mother behind. Eleanor did everything she could for her mother, and her mother treated her horribly. Also, she believed Marcus was watching her, and in a way, by leaving she was protecting her mother from Marcus. Yes I can understand why Mrs. Fitt was so cruel to Eleanor. It wasn't the right thing to do, but considering everything she went through and the time period, it was justified.
